PORTFOLIO

Murals

Included here are some public as well as residential murals . The Monkey Bar in New York City, was one of the first public murals painted by Diane Voyentzie in 1984. It was included in the Rizzoli Book THE MURALS OF NEW YORK, by Glenn Palmer Smith.

Some Public Murals

In 1989 three other artists, Lisa Wassong, Dominique Lange, and Bill Grosset and I were hired to travel to Lake Tahoe to paint an entire room including the ceiling, in Norwegian Rosemaling style, with colorful flowers and fanciful marbleizing. It appeared on the cover of AD July 1989. The Art Deco mural is in the Wellington Hotel in NYC., and was painted in 1995. The Monkey Bartender lives at the Monkey Bar., and the Staircase Mural is in the Hotel Elysee NYC and was painted in 1995. These are a few of public projects finished over the years.

'THE PINES OF ROME II". Oil on Canvas. $1,200.00
"GLOBAL". Oil on Canvas. 34" wide 48" long

The paintings below were inspired by my daily meditations after the pandemic. I have found that meditating , or just sitting quietly, with no noise other than the music of nature: the wind, the waves, and trees, rustling, and birds singing has given me a new way to observe and enjoy nature. I have enjoyed painting these so much. I hope that you enjoy looking at them.
"Ocean Sunrise". 2022. 24 x 30. $1,300.00
"Surf Naples". 2022. 24 x 30. $1,300.00
"Desert Wind". 2022. 24 x 36. $1,500.
"Tropical Foliage" 2022. 36 x 24. $1,500.00

"Beach Waves" 2022. 16 x 20. $500.
"Rolling Surf". 2022. 18 x 24. $600.00
All of the above paintings would look very good with a simple white floating frame.

Residential Murals

These murals below are some of the various designs and styles that can change the entire charater of a room. Inspiration comes from nature, room colors, use of the room , and the client's and designer's ideas. The paintings, and murals can be a look into a dream or simply a beautiful way to enhance a room. Exploring new techniques, and new art tools, as well as new substructures, are what keeps the passion for painting alive.

Paintings

These paintings are some of the newer ones that have a spiritual side. I have enjoyed using a slightly lighter pallet of oil colors.

Gates of Jerusalem

After visiting Israel last year, I was inspired by the amazing landscape colors, and especially the old city of Jerusalem, with its crumbling walls, and its deep religious significance . It is the center of the three major religions of the world. The old city of Jerusalem is surrounded by walls, with eight gates. These gates have been there for many many centuries. The Golden Gate has been bricked up for several hundred years. This is the eastern gate that leads to the Christian section, and is said to be the Gate which Jesus rode in to Jerusalem on a donkey on Palm Sunday.
The eight gates of the old city of Jerusalem are what I have started as a series. The paintings are all 24x30 inches on stretched canvas. The paintings are mixed media with heavy impasto paint, and charcoal, pencil, and acrylic, and oil washes.
They are each $1,500.00 and are 24x30 inches on stretched canvas. The Lions Gate, The Golden Gate, and and The Jaffa Gate are SOLD

The Monkey Paintings

This was a commission ordered by a client who had both a monkey and a brown lab
The Monkey Paintings began in 1984 when I painted several monkeys in the Monkey Bar which is located in the Hotel Elysee Hotel in NYC. People loved the first few playful monkeys that had first been painted by Charles Vella in the 1950s. I added many more new monkeys again in 1995, with the new renovation by David Rockwell. The Monkey Bar has been featured in many movies and television programs.

The restaurant chain BrickTops has highlighted my original monkey paintings in their restaurants for almost twenty years. I enjoy painting commissions of monkeys with family pets in tropical locations. These are just a very few of the paintings. They are 24 x 36 inches and are SOLD. If you are interested in commissioning a painting, please email me. dvoyentzie@mac.com or direct message me 203.733.2034

Miscellaneous Painted Items

The items below are just a few miscellaneous things I have painted as well as furniture. The car on the left is a 1987 restored Jeep Wagoneer. The panels are faux painted wood, and then the car was professionally clearcoated. The next photograph is one of five designed scarves for a NYC Womens Club. The middle picture is me on a lift painting and detailing the exterior carving on a historical building in Florida. The last is a tactile painting for the blind. It was hung at the Harn Museum at the Art for the Blind exhibit. It has the poem, HOPE, by Emily Dickinsen in Braile, along with tactile feathers, impasto painting and other touchables.
